Reformer Sessions with Sam

The Pilates Reformer is a traditional piece of equipment that, looks like a bed, however you exercise on it    The Reformer was originally devised by Joseph Pilates and dates back to the 1920's.   It incorporates springs, pulleys and a moving carriage to add resistance or assistance to your exercises.    Reformer Pilates is superior to mat based Pilates as the repertoire of exercises available is greatly increased providing far more variations.   The exercises work the muscles through a large range of motion which is ideal for building and toning muscles as well as increasing stability in the joins and flexibility in the muscles.

The Reformer is such a versatile piece of equipment that produces fabulous fitness improvements.  The range of exercises is vast and therefore is suited to all individuals.

Reformer Pilates can be used as a sports specific cross training tool.  Reformer Pilates works on core stabilisation which is vital to any athlete as well as muscle endurance, lactate tolerance, peripheral joint stability, muscle strength, balance, co-ordination and much more.

Reformer Pilates can be used as a rehabilitation tool.  Pilates exercises promote an even musculature throughout the body by strengthening the core.  The core is considered the centre of the body and consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine.   Pilates also stresses spinal and pelvic alignment, which is critical in correct movement patterns.

The Reformer creates long lean muscles with improved range of movement, flexibility and balance.  It is a versatile and fun way of exercising.

Lyndsey 2019    "I love using the reformer to work out,  the sessions are fun but challenging.  My fitness has improved immensely and I have more energy.  I used to put off using the stairs as I found them tiring.  Now I bound up the stairs effortlessly.  I'm hooked."
